  13. I've been having problems making my new Sportster 33.6k keep a stable
  14. connection..

  16. The symptom is that the connection will start to "hang" for 10-15 seconds
  17. at a time whenever connected at high speed.

  19. I assumed that the modem was not responding to changing line conditions
  20. properly, so I changed S27 to 16 (this enables V.23 fallback mode).
  21. Unfortunately, ati6 tells me that fallback is still disabled. (!?!?)

  23. Today, during one of the "hang" periods, I broke into the modem's command
  24. mode (with + + +) and typed ati7.  From this I saw "RETRAINS REQUESTED : 21"
  25. "RETRAINS GRANTED 0"

  27. Obviously something is very much amiss.

  29. My ROM version is 1.1 (which I assume must be pretty recent since I just
  30. brought this thing home to replace my Courier V.32bis a few days ago).

  32. Can anyone offer any suggestions/solutions?  They would be much appreciated
  33. since I think I've pretty much tried everything I could think of, including
  34. disabling different symbol rates (I realize this has no effect on retraining,
  35. but since the modem seems to ignore S27, I couldnt think of anything else
  36. to try).
